Wandi, Si Anak Banjar

Perkenalkan. Namanya Wandi. Aku selalu lupa namanya.

Pertama kali bertemu, dia pendiam.

Lama sekali." Dia pun berlalu. Ibuku tersenyum, "Lama katanya...

Volume-nya pun sangat kencang. Awalnya aku terusik terhadap kebisingan yang dibuat. Lambat laun, hatiku pun luluh. "Biarkan, Lia. Itu musiknya Wandi. Dia dan dunianya.", gumamku.

Pagi, esoknya, ibuku sudah sibuk di warung. Memasak ini dan itu sebelum warung buka. Tak kutemukan lelaki Banjar ini. Menurut ibu, si Wandi masih tidur. Benar saja. Dia bangun paling siang sesudahku.

Raut mukanya terlihat fresh sehabis mandi. Sambil berlalu dia berkata, "Oh film tembak-tembakan."

Sebelum dia meninggalkanku, aku bertanya, "Kau tidak mengganti bajumu? Itu kan yang kamu pakai kemarin (seharian)." Tanpa berpikir dua kali, tanpa rasa malu, dan tanpa basa-basi, dia menjawab, "Malas."

Aku pun hanya tersenyum saja.

LDR: Communication

Everyday my Boyf and I make a contact via Skype and Whatsapp, sometimes phone. In the past, we were crazy: phone call everyday. Once my Boyf's phone bill was 600 Euro! I used provider Three to make a call, but I must call to his home phone to get a cheap price. About 10 Euro per month for 10 hours. SMS was still a king. We traded a SMS about 2-5 times a day.
On that time, I like phone call more than Skype. The reason was on Skype or Yahoo Messenger I could see clearly the time difference. It was dark in my place but the light was still bright in my Boyf's place. Even we had been online and chatted for many hours, but I like asking him to call me for 2-5 minutes on the phone before going to sleep. Just to hear his voice, closer, as if he was beside me.
Nowadays, everything is changed. Skype and WhatsApp are our fellows. Phone call becomes rare. If I don't have any internet connection for Skype, then my Boyf will make a phone call almost everyday even the duration is not that long anymore. WhatsApp replaces SMS. Anytime we make a contact.
Talking about WhatsApp, my Boyf has it first than I. I knew it in 2011. On that time, I didn't know about WhatsApp. He made a contact, swapped stories with her friends when he was in Indonesia. Even I have a smartphone, but he had no any initiative to tell something like this, "Cinta, install WhatsApp in your smartphone! Thus, we can communicate nicely (and at least cheaper). I use WhatsApp to communicate with my friendsss..." So, ja! I got no saying like that. I was (still) mad (untill now). Then, few months later I installed it with my own initiative.
While the communication technology grows faster and smarter, I feel tired with this LDR. Even technology makes distance and time gone, the six years in LDR is dullable. No matter how sophisticated a technology, but it won't replace an appearance of someone. I fell like Milow's song "Ayo Technology".
Aayooh...
I'm tired of using technology.
I need you right in front of me.

My Colleagues...

Almost ten months, I've been working for this new research center. I believe, my colleagues, mostly they can't stand with my action, my attitude, my behavior, how slow I am, not that agile and spry, et cetera.

One thing that I can't stand is gossiping. Perhaps, for them is usual or just normal. But for me, I'm just uncomfortable. The way how they react on something/someone that they don't like etc.

Of course, I have never known whether they have been gossiping about me or not. But if they indeed like gossiping, talking someone else, they among them have also ever done gossiping about me hehehe...

None the less, there is always black and white. Minus or plus. Despite that thing, I learn a lot from them. They are full of dedication, serious, and hard working.

In the end, it's me who decide: to imitate or not to imitate them.

WELCOME TO REAL LIFE!!!

Deutsch Oh Deutsch...

Huwokeeeey.... Maka aku putuskan back to learn German. Dengan catatan, (aku berjanji pada diriku) bahwa:
It's a must.
Ach!!!! Es ist so schwierig!!!

So, here are two of my writing exercises:
Heute ist endlich sehr schön. Ich hatte kostenlos Mittagessen und Abendessen. Kommen Sie oft nach Indonesien, bitte Professur!!! Das Restaurant "Drie Frauen" ist gut. Die gerichten hatten sehr gut geschmeckt. Das Innere vom Restaurant hat Peranakan Tionghoa Kunst. Interessant!
"Ach, 2 Stunden gehen so schnell!!!

I'm A Disaster and God's gift: One Package

It has been a while I didn't listen this song which produced in 2008. It has been five years, but today, this time, it is the first time for me laughing due to this song. I took a notice the lyric and it is just funny but cute. I talked to myself, "My Boyf must sing this song for me.". Here we go, the lyric in English:

People said you are a witch
For me, you are Britney Spears
Oh oh…
I love you, Baby

People said you are like a crocodile
For me, you are Luna Maya
Oh oh…
I love you, Baby

I love you
This affection is only for you…
For you… for you…

People said you are a disaster
For me, you are a gift from God
Oh oh…
I love you, Babe

I don’t care whatever people say
For me, you are everything
Oh oh…
I love you, Baby

I love you
This affection is only for you…
For you… for you…

Why did I laugh?  I have marked with bold to three words there: witch, crocodile, and disaster.

Witch
For me, I'm like a witch. I'm not that friendly, I look grumpy all the time if I don't smile, and oftenly my statements and my thinking may hurt someone else.
If I take a notice, most people I know they don't look forward to meet me again. I'm not a miss-able, likeable, or loveable person. Only my Boyf and few people who like to meet and catch up with me again. So, ya. It's so him.

Crocodile
A crocodile or in Indonesian idiom means playboy / sexually aggressive male. Then I'm a playgirl. For some of my friends, I'm a crocodile or playgirl. In my case, I still like to flirt and very easy to fall in "like" with someone. But my best friend said that I couldn't handcuff my charm. Hahaha... While for my Boyf, I'm a best girlfriend. hehehe..

Disaster
My mom and sister (also my friends) once said that I'm a disaster for my Boyf. I told about it to my Boyf. He answered, "Nah! You are the best thing I ever have in my life."

Well, I can't help his thinking about me hahaha.. He just said to me that I'm pure. Original. Lol...

Shall We Buy A Gecko for Our House?

My Boyf gave me the video above. Then asked, "Zullen wij het kopen voor ons huis?" "Shall we buy it for our house?"
Wahahaha... Of course not. I won't buy it and I won't let him to buy it. It is so ironic. Why should I buy it for my house, while at home in Banyuwangi we kill them? When I was young, there was a gecko in my sister's room. It was behind her closet. We were all scared. I heard they bite. Then we called our neighbor. He helped us catching the gecko and killed it. There were geckos twice in several years in my sister's room, we killed them twice as well. So, of course I won't have gecko as my pet. When I told about it, his answer was: "Asians are cruel."
He really likes tokeh. He has never seen it yet, but he has ever heard its sound when he was in Banyuwangi. Tokeh. Tokeh. Tokeh. "Well, it is a big big no, bibeh."

My First Full Time Job

Wow!!! It has been a while I don't write something. A bit surprising as the last post was in February. Since March I work in one of research centers of UGM. In March, I was already busy especially to prepare workshop and seminar in October. In April, I was a bit busy especially early and late of April. There was my first seminar to be handled and my boyfriend came to Yogyakarta and stayed two weeks for my graduation. While, this month is not that busy I may say. So, here I am now writing something.
It's my first experience to have a full time job. The contract is only 10 months as I started in March instead of January. The first month was fine. I didn't feel bored as many things to do especially to prepare the seminar etc. But after 6 weeks, I talked to myself, "What am I doing here?" Lol!!! I found myself stuck in that office. Like a turtle in a box. It's not that working in that research institution isn't nice. But I was just shocked that I didn't go anywhere. The fact, I can't go anywhere freely.
As a person who likes traveling and can't stay longer in one place, working indoor-8 hours at the office is just unbelievable. But, for me it's still a challenge. My mom said, "Seems it's a good idea to have a paranormal to keep your feet chained." Hahaha... it's unnecessary. If I quit before December, I need to pay as much as my salary that I got per month for eacg month I leave. So, the contract is until December. If I quit two months before, I must pay 2 times my salary.
What skill do I need to improve? Writing and communication skill. At the moment I'm working on my activity report for my seminar in early April. Until now, it's still revised by the executive secretary. More than once. Twice or third I guess. And it's not done yet. I got an email "If you feel this report is too burdensome or troublesome, i can not do anything about it since this is the standard of bla bla bla bla bla, and you are a part of it." I laughed reading it. Well, I won't give up easily. If I can conquer Mt. Merapi and Mt. Sindoro, I won't give up for something which quite new for me. I've never made an activity report before, so if I made some mistakes, I won't complain about it. I don't mind for many notes I receive to make the report better. The fact, I feel more grateful for that. It enriches me...

Keep fight, Leah!!!!

Pertubuhan Bukan Kerajaan

Pertubuhan bukan kerajaan. A body which is not a kingdom.
Temanku pun bertanya, "Untuk apa kamu meminta sendok?".
"Ya untuk makan," ujarku.
"Spoon."
Wahahaha... Pantesan semua orang terkesima denganku ketika aku meminta sendok untuk makan. Mungkin pikir mereka, "Ini cewek udik banget sih makan aja pake centong besar..."

Ah, bahasa itu memang menyenangkan meskipun terkadang membuat kita malu atau bahkan dimaki-maki orang...

One Person, For Me

Sometimes the things you want the most don't happen and what you least expect happens. I don't know - you meet thousands of people and none of them really touch you. And then you meet one person and your life is changed forever.
Jamie Randall - Love and Other Drugs

I like the quote. For me, "Sometimes you just need one person, then your life will be changed forever." My life is more colorful with my Boyf. He's the one who has been changing my life everyday. My chance and opportunity become wider since then. I don't know what kind of shape will be appeared but I just want to enjoy every moment I get. No matter what the result is.

You may expect that person to come in your life soon. Maybe it's him. Maybe it's her. Maybe that someone there. Maybe that someone here. Maybe your new friend. Maybe, maybe and maybe. But what the advantage to count the possibility of uncertain? For me, let it flows. Just open your arms then you will meet him/her.

Some Memorabilias of 2012

A new year to face!!! 2013. Then, I want to flashback some memories I could remember during 2012.
  • I visited Europeand met my Boyf again twice in January and July. It's precious, as usually it was only once or he came to visit me.
  • I visited my beloved friend in Swiss for the first time in January. It's precious regarding to after few times every time I wanted to visit this gorgeous woman being canceled due to some reasons.
  • I bit (as joke) one of my Boyf's friend too hard when we, three people, were in summer holiday together, but he said "only animal who bites". Some days later I cried due to him as every time I made a joke, it hurt him. While every time he made a joke, it hurt me as well.
  • One of my former housemates blackmailed me after he refused to pay expenses of the house when he still stayed at our rent house. He was quite funny and not smart. He wrote me that he would tell my Boyf that I kissed a guy at a party if I told/wrote about someone (actually he meant "him") in public.
  •  I went on holiday in Lombok together with my Austrian friend again after in 2007. We had some nice and unpleasant moments but it was still nice one.
Goodbye, 2012... Welcome, 2013!

My Daughter's Name

I just read an article "Trend Prediction - The Top Baby Names for 2013". Roman Gods, Vintage, or Scandinavian... Yup! You may choose... But I already have one for my future daughter "Tanaya Dayinta". It's taken from Basa Kawi, the old Javanese, rooted from Sanskit. For me it means the child who has a white heart. That's my pray for my little daughter. Well, I like those words. I found it when I sat in the second year of my Junior High School. Actually it's my nickname which I want to use it for my own, but now I thought why it's not "wore" by my child in the future. Then, I wish someday I could have a daughter. If not then I let my future husband chooses for our sons' name. Sons? "My Boyf and I like to have two children. I expect twin... hahaha...

Baby girl, your dad and I will make you in the end of 2013 or early 2014!!! Hehehe...
Oops! Is that mean I expect to have a daughter for my first child? No. Boy or girl, it doesn't matter. I just can't wait to give that name to my baby girl.

So ladies, what name do you wanna give to your children? Have you prepared for it? Maybe you have one, two or even three names... Welcome to ladies' world! :)

Halo, Mijn Buurman!!!

Correctie:

Hallo, buurman.

Jadi ingat lagunya Padi "Semua Tak Sama"

Semua tak sama, tak pernah sama
Apa yang kusentuh, apa yang kukecup
Sehangat pelukmu, selembut belaimu
Tak ada satupun yang mampu menjadi sepertimu

A Ghost Corrects My English

This post is made because of Barbecue or Barbeque?. When I posted the posting, it reminds me with one of my housemates who always corrected my English but until now I don't know him/her. At home, I was the only one who pasted a printed saying or command on the wall. The next day or a few days after I pasted the writing, there was an added writing by hand correcting my English or a comment about it. I wrote such as, "Don't throw away the tissue into the closet!" Then there was a saying "if you don't want your clothes smelly." At the beginning, I didn't understand. What is the connection between closet and clothes? Then I just laughed. In Indonesian, we mentioned "kloset" refers to "toilet" (in English). In other hand, most Indonesian mention "toilet" (in Indonesian) refers to "rest room". So, I thought "kloset" is from English, that's why I wrote "closet". But I didn't realize whether closet means "cupboard" or "lemari" (in Indonesian). Oh, stupid of me!!!

Another time, I wrote "So, somebody else don't see your shit." for another writing. Again, there was someone who corrected it. He/she wrote "doesn't. Somebody is singular." I just smiled reading the comment. The fact, I was glad there was someone who cared about me and put attention on me. It means I am still exist. hohoho... But then the funny is, the person who like to correct my English, he/she never correct my English writing on Facebook. There's a group on Facebook for the house members. Sometimes we post something there. Mostly, when I read again my posting, I find out that I make a mistake in grammar. Then I just realize my secret English teacher didn't show off to correct my English. Until now, it's still a mystery.

Ough, what an experience!!! I Love My Life.

Barbecue or Barbeque?

Yesterday I wrote "barbeque" on my facebook. And then one of my friend corrected my "barbeque" by writing "berbeque" plus laughing. Then, I talked to myself, "Uh-oh. Again. I make a mistake in my English." Then, I check it on Google Translate, the correct one is "barbecue". Hohoho... My friend and I are both wrong. Then, I told to my Boyf that I wrote wrong for "barbecue". He answered, "Oh ja?" Then I asked him to spell "barbecue" on his own knowledge. He spelled in Dutch (as we spoke in Dutch at that time) "b.e.r.b.e.q.u.e." I said, you were wrong. Then I laugh and spelled "b.a.r.b.e.c.u.e.". He just surprised, "Oh ja?". "Plus it's also in Dutch. Barbecue. Just like English." Without my notice seems he checked it too on his mobile, "Ja... You are right."

My curious doesn't stop yet. I checked on Wikipedia. It's written "barbecue" or "barbeque" for common spelling variant. According to Wiki.Answer, it's said:
The spelling barbeque with - que at the end comes from combining the standard spelling barbecue with the abbreviation Bar-B-Q, and from spelling as you speak. Though listed as an alternative in some dictionaries, barbeque is best avoided.
Meanwhile, according to Oxford Dictionaries, it's said that "barbecue" is often misspelled as "barbeque".
This form arises understandably from the word's pronunciation and from the informal abbreviations BBQ and Bar-B-Q. Although almost a quarter of citations in the Oxford English Corpus are for the-que spelling, it is not accepted in standard English.

So, barbeque is completely wrong. Lets barbecue then!!!

Cake Smell...

There's a new stuff in my renting house. An oven. Everyday, it smells cake in the house. Nice, warm, and lovely. Then it reminds me with a movie "Because I Said So". Milly baked before her date comes to her house. The reason is only to make the house having smell of cooky. It's quite good idea for you, ladies... Nice to try...

Seriously... I don't Wanna Know!

I don't wanna know. I really don't wanna know!!!

Sometimes, it's too much being me. I want to be a dummy, the dummy who doesn't know anything on this world. When I think something and later I know it finally happens, then it turns me crazy. Here we go!

About 2-3 months ago, in my house neighborhood where I live in Yogyakarta, we have three new securities. To one of them, I felt to him different. I don't like him. I don't know why but my instinct told me to dislike him. He was friendly, I was friendly too. So, I talked to myself, "Stop, Leah. Don't be negative thinking on him." Time went by, I forgot about my first impression on him. Well, I tried my best to forget...

31 May. I got a letter notification from the head of the association, that he no longer work since 1 June. I just talked to myself, "Shit!!!" It drove me crazy. I really don't wanna have the feeling on someone else. It's like a horror movie. "What you wanna know can kill you!"

Pfff... Please help! Do you know what it is? Have you ever got the same like mine? I got it pretty often.

Almost Cry... Karma

Do you know the feeling of painful if you never clean the house when you still live with your parents, while in other places you should clean the house by yourself?

This is my story. In my family, I still live with my parents. Actually with my mom, a single parent. At home, I never do the homework. I never swap the floor, I never set my bed neat, I never wash my own laundry, I never do the dishes, I never iron my clothes. All has been done by my mom. That's me at home. I don't deny it. I have no any responsibility at all at home.

But it's changed automatic. My responsibility comes up when I am not with my mom. When I live alone or when I stayed in the boarding house in Jember where I did my bachelor. And now, staying in renting house together with 9-10 students for my master study. When I'm sick that the house is messy and so on, then I just can't stand not to clean it. So, I clean it.
Few days ago I swapped the main floor of the ground floor where I stay. But then, my finger was hurt due to swapping the floor. Then, suddenly I wanted to cry, and I almost cried. Why? B'coz I felt that I never clean the house at home. And supposed I shouldn't do it while other people just made the mess. The second time of swapping, my finger is good again. But I need to wait few days to be healed.

Hahaha... But ja, ok. It's a story of a spoiled girl who never clean the house at home. It's a karma. And I deserve to have it.

Confession

This story is about a guy whom I know. Just a short story about him. Well, he's a friend of my friend. I knew him from my friend. Once, twice, third, fourth time from our meeting, then we become close each other. I act normal as myself. I told him as well that I have a Boyf already. Chat, chat, chat... I asked whether he got married already or perhaps a girlfriend. But he said nothing. He just mentioned, "I have no ring at all. That means I am single."
Then he knows me well. About how my thinking on a relationship, marriage, and what criteria I like on men which I'm looking for.
Later, lately... Without any storm, without meteor on the sky. He said (I didn't ask anything at all), "It's my girl." by pointing and letting me know the photo of him and his girlfriend. I just smiled hearing his confession to me. "Ough, boy! I don't care you have already girlfriend or not. I just asked for nothing (chit-chat) whether you have one or not."

So, have you ever done it? My confession? Well, I always tell that I do have a Boyf. (So far I remember hahaha...)
